Have you ever got a forward message or email saying something like Coca-Cola has became carbonated by mistake? It was most likely an urban legend. Urban legends are stories that appear mysteriously and spread spontaneously in various forms and are usually false, contain elements of humor or horror and is popularly believed to be true. They are so many outrageous Urban Legends and searching Snopes.com I found various amount of them, but three actually stood out to me.
The fist Urban Legend I want to introduce is actually found to be true the claim is “January is the “break up” month for couples”. Divorce attorney have acknowledge that January and February are among their most bountiful months for acquiring new clients. Some couples who have divorced in January say they deal with that significant other just for the holidays. It’s always nice to have cuddled when it’s cold out. High expenses spent on Christmas gifts cause you to have to catch up on bills. Late bills and not being able to buy what you want is stressful. This stress can sometimes be taken upon the other spouse and cause problems. Attitudes because money is funny can cause partners to break apart.
The second Urban Legend that caught my eye was false. Its claim was 90% of people in the U.S marry their high school sweet heart. This was false because in recent surveys many couples have meet at work, introduce by a mutual friend. Couples even meet on online dating sites before they marry their high school partner. They also meet though family friends, and college. This claim may have been true in early era when couples would marry young.
The last Urban Legend was true and not that shocking. It claimed that women’s purses may be carring a disease into there homes. Studies were performed on this and reporters reported that women place their purse every where .Every where like from the ground to beside the toilet. They also found that 1 out of every 4 purses have e-coli and the bacteria Hepatitis. Women should wipe their purse daily to reduce the risk of these bacteria’s. Placing your purse on counters where people eat are the risky places to place your bag, putting it in you lap can reduce the chance of your purse getting a bacteria.
In conclusion Snopes.com has some very intriguing Urban Legends. Very many of these Legends can benefit some one. Like the purse situation which helps you out and makes you aware of what you may have never thought could be true. Searches Urban Legends has interest me and had me thinking about things and also shocked me a bit.

Pictures #1 With Katie Couric they took weight off her body and made her slim. ,9 with the child and the flag they photo copied a group of solders into the picture,11 with Oprah Winfrey they took someone Else's body and put it on her head,13 with O.J. Simpson they took his mug shot and made it more darker and meaner,23 With the University they wanted to show diversity so they took an old picture and used it as new.
The Picture That Stood out the most was the one with Oprah Winfrey. They made a unreal person, someone who doesn't even exist. They used someones body without consulting them. I think if they were going to decrease her size they could of at least used her own body and made it smaller. This photo is just fake.

Hip Hop 1
- Record labels would rather promote stereotypical "gangster" rap music because it sells more units.
I agree with statement because the people who sell the music only focus on one thing,MONEY and if "gangster" rap sells and makes it. Record labels think why not promote it. A white person probally wouldn't care as long as there making business and business makes money, and in some ways the "gangster" rap music doesn't apply to them.
Quote::' "Who's making the decisions about what people see? Who's making the decisions about what gets the multimillion dollar contracts? and overwhelmingly, its not this is is no great secret overwhelmingly, its white men in suits who are making those decisions. And they are deciding,'This makes money, I'm gonna sell it. I don't care if its hurting people.' Who, who it's a business decision right?"
Comparison Of The Two Movies
The movie killings us softly was saying how when women are used in the media to sell products. and they use the masculinity of men to say that women should be weak and let men do all the work. Tough guys was saying that men HAVE to be tough to gain respect. The harder you act the more respect you get. The compassion of these movies are they both teach children that they should be like the people in the media when in some cases,the people being displayed are not even real. Killing Us Softly is saying how media exploxeds women and makes it look like the average women is 120 ponds soft skin very tall and NO pores. When in the reality on 15 percent of women in America look like that. Tough Guys was saying that men are always above women in media and that's how media makes it seem like it should be. If you don't act "hard" then your a wimp.!

Key Concepts::'
The key concept I understand the most is number one. All media messages are constructed. This concept means that every media message has a story behind it. For example if a Proactive commercial come on with the celebrity Keyshia Cole talking about how she use to struggle with acne. The story behind it is if you use Proactive you will be successful just like her.
Another example is if drink Gatorade you will be as strong as Reggie Bush.
